Quote:

"That show [drawing online viewers in China] is 'House of Cards,' whose new season opened Friday Feb 14, 2014] on Netflix Inc's paid online-video service in the US and on Sohu.com Inc's ad-sponsored service in China. The second season—which follows fictional US Vice President Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey—includes a significant story line about China. * * * In one scene, Mr Underwood says to a corrupt Chinese businessman: 'Mao is dead, and so is his China.'

"Once a notorious home for pirated movies and content, China's online-video industry has cleaned up. Companies like Sohu compete to stream licensed content to [Chinese]

"The new episodes of 'House of Cards' have about nine million combined views on Sohu, which is significant but still low compared with Chinese hits such as the reality show 'Dad, Where Are We Going  爸爸去哪兒?' Mr [Sohu's chairman and CEO Charles] Zhang said. 'Dad' was viewed more than one billion times online last year.

(2) WSJ.com has not translate the above. Instead, it translated a similar report in China Real Time, by the same reporter. I did not compare this with the American version.
