Tom Perkins, Sticking it to the the Rich. In more socialized countries, charitable giving from the wealthy is virtually unknown: Why give when the government provides?  Wall Street Journal, Sept 19, 2014

(book review on Darrell M West, Billionaires; Reflections on the upper crust. Brookings Institution Press, 2014)

Quote: “The author points out that in the more socialized countries, like Scandinavia, charitable giving from the upper crust is virtually unknown: Why give when the government provides? I discovered this personally when I gave a philanthropic gift to restore an architectural treasure in Norway in the name of my late wife. The donation was headline news in all the morning papers.

My comment:
(a) The bottom line, according to the review, is the book author is “red-tinted” (on the left, that is) while the reviewer, on the right.
(b) The reviewer is himself a billionaire.
