Only 10 to 14 inches of snow, from tonight (Saturday evening through Monday morning). Yet everywhere is closed or shut down--from Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (bus, subway and commuter rail), Boston Public Library, colleges. Sigh.

So far (about three weeks), a record of 80 inches of snow has fallen. In that period, temperatures rarely venture above freezing point, so snow has melted little. Boston is the oldest city in US, with narrow streets. Thus snow has no place to go but piles up on both sides of streets. Several days last week with just a foot of snow, as many as 40% of subway trains were disabled, when light snow/flurry went into their engines. It is hard to understand how this can happen in US. I mean, Boston always has snow in winter, though not as much as Chicago or Buffalo, New York.
